About The Position

NaphCare is hiring a Charge Registered Nurse (RN) to join their team of medical professionals in Land O Lakes, Florida. This role involves managing all aspects of healthcare for individuals incarcerated in the Pasco County Detention Center. The Charge RN will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals, providing care to patients while also overseeing nursing staff and operations. This is a unique position offering the opportunity to make a difference in a diverse patient population with complex medical needs.

Requirements

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license within Florida.
• Active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association required).
• Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
• Two years of full-time RN experience.
• Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques.
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards.
• Knowledge of infectious disease management.
• Knowledge of applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently and in a team.
• Integrity, professionalism, and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct.
• Ability to comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates shift activities.
• Performs initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals.
• Monitors and documents patient health, including vital signs and medical histories.
• Conducts daily clinical rounds, providing direct patient care, triaging, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and coordinating services.
• Responds to medical emergencies, provides first aid, and ensures timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities.
• Educates patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.
• Understands and adheres to correctional facility security protocols, working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and well-being.
• Maintains accurate medical records, documents treatment plans, and reports relevant information.
