About The Position

The Charge Registered Nurse (RN) - Surgery position at Texas Health Fort Worth is a full-time role working evening shifts. This fast-paced, high-volume department averages 75 surgeries per day and performs high-acuity procedures including robotics, complex spine and ortho trauma, and intricate plastic surgery cases. The role offers excellent clinical experience and is part of a Level I Trauma Candidate facility. The department boasts a robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership.

Requirements

Current RN licensure Upon Hire Required
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 Days of Hire Required
1 Year Experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting Required

Nice To Haves

Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing Required or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Preferred
2 Years Experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting Preferred

Responsibilities

Collaborates with Leadership, UBC, and appropriate team members to establish, implement, and monitor department policies/procedures, facilitate unit goals, evaluate and individualize patient care and provide direction to staff to promote quality outcomes.
Provides bedside leadership on a particular unit or units and shift, coordinating patient flow, patient care and assignments.
Assists the manager/director with human resource management to include evaluations, coaching, mentoring, recruitment, retention, education and orientation.
Works with manager/director to control costs and manage department budget and productivity.
Effectively communicates with patients, families and other healthcare team members by incorporating the 8 caring factors in the Quality Caring Model.
