Regions Hospital is seeking a dynamic Charge RN for its busy Postpartum Unit. The unit has received the highest ranking from the Institute for HealthCare Improvement (IHI) for patient safety and is a Baby Friendly Hospital. They support the largest midwife practice in the Twin Cities, with over half of deliveries performed by midwives. The team is interdisciplinary, working with physicians, midwives, residents, and students. The Professional Nursing Practice Model focuses on patient and family-centered care, with an emphasis on bedside care. The Shared Governance Model empowers nurses to manage their clinical practice and working environment, focusing on evidence-based nursing practice. The Birth Center, built in 2020, is state-of-the-art, featuring 13 Labor and Delivery rooms, 2 operating rooms, 24 Postpartum rooms, and 7 NICU rooms. The Level 2 NICU has 7 private rooms (8 beds total) with adjoining family spaces and bathrooms. Regions Hospital utilizes the Enhanced Couplet Care model, where 5 Postpartum rooms are equipped with a full NICU headwall, allowing some NICU babies to remain in the Postpartum room with their families. This model has shown benefits such as improved weight gain, more effective feedings, and fewer hospital readmissions. The Birth Center averages approximately 2800 births annually, with 15-20% of babies requiring NICU-level care. The hospital is dedicated to diversity and inclusion, with 60% of the patient population being people of color and 25% requiring interpreters.
