About The Position

Seeking a Charge Nurse for the Emergency Department Observation Unit at Baptist Health Floyd. This is a part-time, day shift (7am-7pm) position, working exclusively on weekends (Saturday & Sunday) with premium pay for these shifts. The role involves acting as a resource nurse and providing leadership for the unit's staff, coordinating care, determining staffing needs, addressing concerns, and managing patient flow. The Observation Unit is a 29-bed unit affiliated with the Emergency Department, observing patients expected to stay less than 24 hours. Nurses care for a variety of patients including those with chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, post-cardiac catheterizations, laparoscopic cholecystectomies, UTIs, and DVTs. A provider is available on the unit from 7 AM to 5 PM daily. New Graduate RNs are welcome. This position is benefit-eligible and may include a sign-on bonus for experienced external applicants.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved nursing program, holding a minimum of an ASN.
  • Current Indiana or compact state RN license.
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider required.
  • ACLS for Healthcare provider required (obtained within 12 months of hire).
  • One year of nursing experience required.
  • Professional/Specialty certification required as per unit/department standards.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience in area of specialty preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a resource nurse for the department.
