About The Position

Position is a Charge/Lead Nurse located at Central Prison Healthcare Complex in Raleigh, which houses approximately 1318 close custody male offenders. The Perioperative/Operating Room nurse provides care to patients before, during, and after surgical or endoscopy procedures. This role also entails being a patient educator, functioning as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, and/or first assistant, and supervising other allied personnel.

Requirements

• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and one year of nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Providing direct patient care in the pre/post-operative areas while assisting with the preparation, recovery, and discharge of patients for surgical and endoscopy procedures.
• Circulate and scrub surgical/procedural cases within the services of Endoscopy, ENT, Orthopedic, Podiatry, Urology, and General Surgery.
• Independently prepare for surgical cases to include acquiring instrumentation, equipment, and supplies as needed, as well as the ability to provide direction to the surgical team and unlicensed personnel.
• Exemplify perioperative standards of care, including but not limited to infection control, processing/sterilization of instrumentation, endoscope cleaning, and maintaining cleanliness within the OR environment.
