About The Position

Position is located at Central Prison HealthCare Complex in Raleigh, NC. This position provides clerical support to the medical department. They will be required to protect and maintain health records to a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality. These responsibilities include effectively maintain medical files for offenders; compose and type letters/memos; proofread documents for spelling/punctuation/grammar; input and comprehend computer-generated medical data; update records in electronic medical records system. This position is also responsible for ordering and keeping inventory of medical supplies and scheduling medical appointments for offenders. In addition, they will be required to work well independently and with others; receive and distribute mail; answer telephone and direct calls to appropriate staff; operate office equipment such as personal computer, telephone, calculator, copier, scanner, fax machine, etc. The position requires the ability to exercise good judgment and communication with medical staff, offenders, DAC staff and the general public. Cross training in other areas is required and as deemed necessary. Must have knowledge of entering URs (Utilization Review) consultations for Providers.

Requirements

  • Must have knowledge of entering URs (Utilization Review) consultations for Providers.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and communication with medical staff, offenders, DAC staff and the general public.
  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
