About The Position

Medical Records Assistant – Full Time Santa Cruz Post Acute – Santa Cruz, CA Pay: $20–$22 per hour (DOE) Full Benefits Package Santa Cruz Post Acute is seeking a detail‑oriented, organized, and dependable Medical Records Assistant to join our team! This full‑time role plays a key part in ensuring accurate and secure management of resident medical records in compliance with federal, state, and facility requirements. Requirements

  • Previous experience in medical records, health information management, or a healthcare administrative role preferred
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare documentation standards
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
  • Computer literacy, including EMR systems and basic office software

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and organize resident medical records in accordance with regulatory and facility standards
  • Ensure timely, accurate filing of physician orders, labs, progress notes, and other clinical documentation
  • Manage requests for medical records from authorized parties while ensuring HIPAA compliance
  • Assist with audits, surveys, and quality assurance processes
  • Support nursing and administrative departments with documentation needs
  • Perform data entry, scanning, chart assembly, and record retention tasks
  • Maintain confidentiality and secure handling of all protected health information
