About The Position

This role is for a Charge Nurse on a Surgical Unit, working day shifts. The position operates within a professional structural model of shared governance, emphasizing partnership, equity, accountability, and ownership to support excellent patient care. The nursing practice adheres to established standards of care, including assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing effective January 2017 (with the exception of staff previously granted grandfather status).
  • Registered Nurse license from the Indiana State Board of Nursing.
  • One year of nursing experience.
  • Maintain current BLS.
  • Specific departments may also require current ACLS or PALS.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collect client health data.
  • Analyze assessment data in determining diagnosis.
  • Identify expected outcomes unique to the client.
  • Develop a plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
  • Implement the interventions identified in the plan of care.
  • Evaluate the client's progress toward attainment of outcomes.
  • Systematically evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
  • Evaluate own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards, statutes, and regulations.
  • Acquire and maintain current knowledge in nursing practice and pursue knowledge to enhance nursing expertise and advance the profession.
  • Interact with, and contribute to, the professional development of peers and other health care providers as colleagues.
  • Deliver care in a nonjudgmental, nondiscriminatory, sensitive, and culturally competent manner.
  • Collaborate with the client, family members, significant others, and health care providers in providing care.
  • Use research findings in practice.
  • Use leadership skills to enhance client outcomes and foster a healthy work environment within the practice setting and profession.
  • Monitor resources to maintain unit staffing standards and promote world class levels of patient satisfaction and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the team to support a healthy work environment.
  • Assist with and/or facilitate resolution or management of customer issues/concerns/comments.
