About The Position

The Charge Nurse (CN) consistently provides leadership and clinical expertise within the department, caring for the smallest and most vulnerable population. The CN is the direct supervisor to the NICU registered nurses and patient care techs. Charge nurse responsibilities primarily focus on managing the operational aspects of the department, including scheduling, daily assignments, staff communication, interdisciplinary team collaboration, onboarding of new staff, and overall staff performance. The CN ensures compliance with all standards of patient care and follows up on any concerns or issues that arise.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
2 years current experience in a related clinical field in an acute care facility.
Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to rights of patient/significant other, as identified within the institution.
Demonstrates awareness and application of safety issues as identified within the institution.
Demonstrates awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and departmental functioning. Strives to manage situations in a manner, which minimizes risk to the patient and the institution.
Demonstrates competency in selected psychomotor skills.
Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, non-verbal and written methods.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to medication administration and equipment calibration.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Registered Nurse - KSBN. A multistate license with the ability to practice within the State of Kansas is also accepted.
