About The Position

The Charge Nurse will assume responsibility and accountability for the quality of nursing activities and staff functions during their shift. The Charge Nurse provides direct and indirect care in the Intensive Care setting. Under general direction of the Nursing Department Leadership, will serve as a resource person, organizes, plans, directs with focus of providing high quality individualized patient care. The Charge Nurse will monitor compliance with formulated a plan of care to meet the identified needs of patient/family/significant others using the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, in accordance with established philosophy provided by the staff Registered Nurse, assess care and direct staff for immediate response to changes in condition or response to treatment. Consistently monitor and evaluates patient outcomes and modifies plan of care and participates in the coordination of continuum of care. Will provided direct communication with the Nurse Department Director. As appropriate, communicates and collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. Effectively utilizes nursing personnel, time and direct patient care, within the scope of practice. The Board of Registered Nursing for the state of California defines the nature of the direction and supervision required.

Requirements

  • Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of California
  • Current Basic Life Support (AHA)
  • NIHSS Certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA) on hire
  • ABM/MAB within 60 days of hire, annual thereafter
  • Ability to meet essential functions of the job with/without accommodations
  • Re-orientation, HIPAA, Health/TB screening, competencies, fit testing, etc.
  • Maintains compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations, as well as other regulatory programs and hospital policies and procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred
  • At least three (3) years of experience in ICU/CCU preferred
