About The Position

Responsible for the coordination of patient care services for the respective clinical specialty, patient population, and assigned unit(s)/shift. Uses organizational, clinical, communication, and problem solving skills to assist in managing the patient work flow on assigned shift. Serves as a role model and clinical expert for the delivery of professional nursing care and provides leadership in developing and maintaining optimal patient care standards. Effectively provides age appropriate patient care. Participates in patient/family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary, nursing and other patient team personnel to maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Adheres and promotes to hospital polices, industry standards, best practices, and applicable laws and regulations to promote an optimal patient experience.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • RN- Registered Nurse State Licensure
  • BLS- Basic Life Support Certification
  • ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • Minimum 3 years acute care experience within the past 5 years, at least 2 years of which is within area of specialty
  • Demonstrates knowledge of patient care techniques, medications, treatments and general health care procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to provide basic patient care to a diverse population.
  • Ability to read/interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write legibly and effectively present ideas, document activities.
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Knowledge of documenting in electronic medical record.
  • Completion of a hospital approved course on the management of assaultive behavior within three months of employment with an annual recertification.
  • Completion of a mental health services approved training program on suicide assessment within one month of employment with an annual recertification.
