About The Position

The RN - Charge Nurse for Behavioral Medicine is a key player in the delivery of care consistent with the recovery model assuring that staff is providing person centered care evidenced by choice, respect, dignity, partnerships, self-management, and full inclusion. This position takes responsibility to set the stage in creating a culture that embraces all aspects of the recovery model and strategies to reduce seclusion and restraint. This position creates a collaborative, non-punitive environment, and works through problems by communicating expectations to staff. This position is well versed in patients' rights regarding care, privacy, safety, confidentiality of medical records, and the Baker Act. This position is a resource to staff and can clearly give direction and guidance. As a Registered Nurse, this position explains illness, symptoms, courses of treatment and hope for the future and begins to teach the individual about the use and benefits of personal recovery plans and relapse. This position informs the individual of the benefits of active treatment, including medication, and the intended and unintended effects and ensures that the individual is educated about choices/resources available. Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Knowledge of patients' rights regarding care, privacy, safety, and confidentiality of medical records.
  • Understanding of the Baker Act.

  • Uphold patients' rights regarding care, privacy, safety, and confidentiality of medical records.
