Charge Capture Specialist

About The Position

Responsible for providing the necessary functions to capture all charges in a timely and appropriate manner. Ensures excellence in service for internal and external customers.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.
1-2 years of medical billing or medical industry knowledge
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite specifically Excel and Word
Demonstrates the ability to work in a high pressure environment
Strong active listening skills, attention to detail, and decision-making skills are required
Pleasant, friendly attitude with the ability to adapt to change is essential
Superior problem- solving abilities is required
Ability to collaborate with all departments
Ability to be flexible with changing priorities, work volume, procedures, and variety of tasks.
Ability to communicate effectively utilizing both oral and written means.
Ability to handle various tasks simultaneously while working efficiently, effectively, and independently
Must be comfortable taking direction from Leadership

Nice To Haves

Associates degree in related field preferred
eClinicalWorks experience preferred

Responsibilities

Enter charges into current billing software system.
Complete necessary research for posting discrepancies.
Submit monthly flip sheet to LabCorp.
Coordinate charge codes with Coding Department.
Work with other organizational sites and pharmacies to assure charge reports are received timely for keying.
Assist Billing Specialist with charge questions.
Perform work in accordance with regulatory requirements, policies/procedures and departmental/organizational standards in regards to HIPAA and other government requirements.
Attend and participate in departmental and organizational meetings and continuing education opportunities.
Demonstrates and promotes a positive patient/customer service attitude.
Assist with assuring departmental goals are achieved within given parameters.
Perform other duties as assigned
