About The Position

YPR is a national, peer-led organization that serves youth and young adults in recovery from substance use disorder, aiming to improve access to resources such as housing, education, and employment that sustain long-term recovery. YPR envisions a world where all young people have the resources they need to thrive in recovery from addiction to drugs and alcohol. The organization's mission is to provide the life skills and peer support to help people recover from substance use disorder and reach their full potential. YPR Chapters support individuals in or seeking recovery by providing community-based recovery support services and advocating on local and state levels for greater access to these services and other effective recovery resources. This peer-based network relies on quarterly workshops, monthly pro-social events, and regular all-recovery meetings. This is a part-time position, typically allocated approximately fifteen (15) hours per week, with duties and time commitments varying based on grant requirements and program needs.

Requirements

  • Understanding of substance use prevention and recovery
  • Positive and supportive attitude toward all pathways of recovery
  • Sensitivity and awareness of the unique needs and stigmas associated with underserved populations
  • Technology/computer/virtual meeting experience required
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to travel to and from their sites and events

Responsibilities

  • Respond to work-related communications from YPR employees within a reasonable timeframe during scheduled working hours, generally within one (1) business day, unless alternative arrangements have been approved in advance by the supervisor
  • Celebrate both large and small victories while identifying and addressing bottlenecks or barriers the team may be experiencing
  • Comply with all YPR reporting procedures, including ADP time tracking, Concur expense reporting, Salesforce/Community updates, and census reports
  • Obtain and maintain all required training and certifications as directed by the organization or supervisor, including but not limited to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), Sexual Abuse, and Cyber Security
  • Represent the organization professionally in all interactions
  • Handle sensitive and confidential matters with professionalism and discretion
  • Supports special projects and organizational initiatives
  • Complete YPR’s online interactive orientation and review the YPR Leadership Handbook within required onboarding timelines
  • Conduct community outreach activities and submit required outreach documentation in YPR Community
  • Convene Chapter members to foster collaboration, peer learning, and skill development within a supportive recovery-oriented environment
  • Plan, host, and document the following activities in alignment with applicable grant deliverables: One (1) weekly public All Recovery Meeting, One (1) monthly Pro-Social Event, One (1) quarterly YPR-approved Workshop
  • Communicate with the National Chapter Coordinator on a weekly basis regarding Chapter operations, activities, and needs
  • Engage in grassroots community organizing through email, phone, and in-person outreach, as scheduled and approved
  • Participate in statewide advocacy initiatives as assigned and document completed activities and outcomes in YPR Community
  • Register Chapter leaders, members, and supporters using designated platforms (including YPR Community, the YPR website, and RCI), as required
  • Identify and secure free or low-cost venues for Chapter meetings and events (e.g., community centers, libraries, or similar community spaces)
  • Collaborate with other YPR Chapter Leads on statewide events and advocacy efforts, as applicable
  • Promote and support all pathways of recovery consistent with YPR values and policies
  • Utilize RCI and Chapter-specific keywords to support participant engagement and activity tracking
  • Host at least one (1) virtual National All Recovery Meeting per calendar year
  • Attend and actively participate in one (1) monthly All Chapter Call
  • Attend or review recordings of one (1) All Team/All Staff Meeting per quarter
  • Meet with the National Chapter Coordinator after 12 months of service to discuss the potential establishment of a Chapter Advisory Board
  • Use social media to promote Chapter events, national campaigns, and initiatives, with guidance and support from the Marketing team as needed
  • Attend required YPR Academies; if live attendance is not possible, complete the corresponding Academy module in the Learning Portal or view the recorded session when available
  • Collaborate to support and implement YPR’s strategic plan while promoting and encouraging the many pathways of recovery
  • Actively champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) initiatives
  • Continuously strive to improve personal performance and contribute to organizational excellence
  • Use data to inform decision-making, enhance outcomes, and guide organizational development
  • Perform other related duties and marginal functions as assigned
