About The Position

Christian Health has been providing quality care and services for over a century. We are seeking a full-time Chaplain to join our Pastoral Care Team. The Chaplain will serve as part of the pastoral care team, providing religious and spiritual ministries to those served by Christian Health, particularly within the Longview and other CH communities. The role requires an understanding and embrace of the Christian Health mission statement.

Requirements

  • Master in Divinity (or its equivalent) is required.
  • A minimum of one (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) is required.
  • Ordination and denominational endorsement are essential.
  • Thorough understanding of, and ability to work within a Reformed theological perspective.
  • Special skills include leading public worship, preaching, teaching, leading groups, individual pastoral care, and administration.
  • Demonstrates compliance with the CH ASPIRE Standards of Performance.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialized training in psychiatric or long-term care settings preferred.
  • Board certification as a chaplain desired but not essential.
  • Candidates who also possess LSW, LCSW, LAC, LCADC or LPC are desired.
  • Experience in a psychiatric or long-term care setting is desired, but not essential.
  • Significant experience and desire in ministering with the aging and/or mentally ill population.

Responsibilities

  • Ministry to the patients/residents of RRBH geriatric and Southgate services.
  • Spiritual advocacy for residents/patients.
  • Welcome new residents, provide orientation to pastoral services, and screen for spiritual needs.
  • Provide regular worship services in Southgate and on wings B and C in RRPH.
  • Conduct small group ministry in RRPH (A and B wings) and Southgate.
  • Participate in inter-disciplinary care planning.
  • Oversee volunteer pastoral care services in Southgate.
  • Participate in the CH rotation of worship leadership.
  • Provide coverage for other pastoral care staff.
  • Act as a liaison with residents' pastors/churches.
  • Provide pastoral care interventions and support to residents/patients and their families.
  • Perform staff orientation to pastoral services and relevant issues.
  • Provide ministry to the dying.
  • Conduct funeral home visits and memorial services when appropriate.
  • Visit hospitalized residents in local hospitals.
  • Accept preaching assignments in local churches.
  • Perform pastoral counseling upon referral.
  • Facilitate celebration and blessing of significant life events.
