About The Position

The Inpatient Palliative Care Chaplain provides spiritual guidance and emotional support to patients, families, and staff in the hospital’s palliative care program. The chaplain addresses spiritual, emotional, and psychosocial needs related to chronic illness, end-of-life care, and distress. Working collaboratively with the palliative care team, the chaplain integrates spiritual care into patient treatment plans and participates in interdisciplinary meetings. The position reports directly to the Palliative Care Medical Director.

Requirements

Master of Divinity or a master’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies, or a related area from a CHEA-accredited institution.
Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
At least two years of chaplaincy experience.
Experience with chronic illness, end-of-life care, or hospice patients.
Board certification or eligibility with the National Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), or an equivalent certifying body.
If ordained, be in good standing with the ordaining religious body.
Ability to provide spiritual care to people of diverse religious, spiritual, and cultural backgrounds.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and emotional support skills.
Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical records and basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

At least one year of experience in a palliative care or hospital setting.
