About The Position

Chaplains serve as frontline staff fulfilling MCHAP’s mission and Christian ministry by using their gifts and talents to serve company employees and their immediate families. This part-time, field-based role in Hamburg, New York, involves building relationships with employees, providing pastoral care and practical support, and connecting people with specialized assistance when needed. Assigned hours are generally consistent from week to week, but there are no guaranteed minimum hours; positional needs vary with chaplain availability and client requirements. The Chaplain makes regular visits to company worksites, typically weekly, and may visit employees and immediate family members in hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, residences, jails, or other locations where care can be expressed. The role may include confidential pastoral discussions, bereavement and crisis support, referrals, participation in funerals, support following layoffs or terminations, and assistance during serious injuries or deaths. Chaplains may also provide resources, participate in employee orientation, and facilitate—but not lead—spiritual enrichment activities. With Executive Director of Operations permission, the Chaplain may perform other requested services within the applicable company agreement. The role requires the ability to work in an interdisciplinary and interfaith setting while maintaining commitment to MCHAP’s Christian ministry values. The position is remote in the field, and work environments depend on client worksites, which may include manufacturing facilities, hospitals, office buildings, and funeral homes.
