Chaplain - Full Time CPE Required

About The Position

The Chaplain is a key member of the hospice interdisciplinary team, responsible for assessing and addressing the spiritual needs of hospice patients and their families. This role requires the ability to provide spiritual services to individuals from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, ensuring that care is delivered in a manner consistent with their beliefs and desires. The Chaplain will coordinate spiritual services through hospice staff, local religious organizations, or community clergy, and will also provide funeral services and bereavement support as requested. Additionally, the Chaplain will assist with public speaking and training on spiritual issues, end-of-life concerns, and hospice care for other healthcare providers.

Requirements

  • Must have 1 unit of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) with the expectation of completing 4 units within 2 years.
  • Must have 5 years related experience and/or training.
  • Prior healthcare chaplaincy experience required.
  • Exceptional listening skills.
  • Ability to work with individuals and a commitment to organizational goals.
  • Knowledge of proper English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate face to face and by phone effectively in English.
  • Computer skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Personal auto and current auto liability insurance.
  • Satisfactory results from current TB test.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution preferred.
  • Knowledge of death, dying, and bereavement preferred.
  • Experience with end of life issues and hospice services preferred.
  • Prior experience using electronic health systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the spiritual needs of hospice patients and their families.
  • Care for patients of diverse cultures and/or religious backgrounds.
  • Deliver spiritual services in a manner consistent with patient/family beliefs and desire for service.
  • Coordinate spiritual services offered through hospice staff, local religious organizations, or community clergy.
  • Provide funeral services when requested and assist families with planning.
  • Provide bereavement support.
  • Assist with public speaking/training concerning spiritual issues, end of life concerns, and hospice care for other healthcare providers.
