About The Position

The Chaplain of Spiritual Care provides compassionate, trauma-informed spiritual and emotional support to Church at the Park guests, staff, volunteers, and community partners. This role helps cultivate spaces of belonging, reflection, healing, and connection on site by offering pastoral care, facilitating spiritual practices, supporting community gatherings, and walking alongside individuals during key life, health, trauma, and transition moments. The Chaplain models C@P’s mission, vision, and values through relational presence, empathic listening, emotional regulation, and thoughtful collaboration with site teams, leadership, churches, community members, and volunteers. This position strengthens organizational culture by integrating spiritual care into staff development, community partnerships, and daily practices that support dignity, resilience, and hope for those who need it most.

Requirements

  • Must have valid Oregon Driver's license; must have been a licensed driver for at least 2 years; must have a driving record that permits coverage under C@P’s company insurance.

  • Must possess a valid Oregon driver’s license and maintain a driving record that meets Church at the Park’s insurance requirements, if driving is an essential function of the position.
  • All applicants must successfully pass a preemployment drug screening prior to beginning employment.
  • No job offer is final until a drug screen and criminal history check are complete.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters of Divinity preferred. Applicable experience can substitute for degree.
  • 3 years experience in spiritual direction and/or chaplaincy preferred.
  • Currently ordained with a certified organization preferred.
  • Complete ordination process with Street Psalms within two years of employment.
  • Complete Community Health Worker training/certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Model centering practices and C@P values with staff, residents, and guests.
  • Meet with site management/navigation staff regularly to give and receive feedback concerning guest care plans and service strategies.
  • Support guests individually in key health, life, trauma, and transition moments.
  • Create opportunities for community through events, celebrations, holidays, etc.
  • Support and plan a weekly Community Circle for town halls, connection, and belonging and facilitate and coordinate other support groups.
  • Support the Benevolence process for guests.
  • Incorporate spiritual practices in leadership and meeting facilitation.
  • Attend meetings on a weekly basis to support staff interactions meeting the needs of individuals living unsheltered.
  • Support staff in key health, life, trauma, and transition moments.
  • Model healthy emotional regulation and empathic listening to staff, residents, and guests.
  • Understand and communicate C@P mission, vision, and values to new partners & volunteers.
  • Communicate opportunities for volunteer, donation and program partnership to churches and businesses.
  • Coordinate with Communications Team on presentations to community members made and follow-up needed to partner churches and businesses.
  • Share spiritual practices in weekly communication, leadership and training facilitation.
  • Support and participate in the patterns and practices of Staff Retreats, Leadership Council, Open Table, and Trainings.
  • Support and participate in weekly all-staff training and new hire on-boarding training.
