About The Position

Chaplains serve as frontline staff fulfilling MCHAP’s mission and Christian ministry by using their gifts and talents to serve company employees and their immediate families. This part-time field position is based in Gainesville, Florida. Assigned hours are generally consistent from week to week, but there are no guaranteed minimum hours; position needs vary depending on chaplain availability and client requirements. Chaplains visit company worksites, usually weekly, to build relationships with employees, and provide care to employees and immediate family members at locations such as hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, and residences. Depending on the situation, they may offer confidential pastoral discussions, referrals, support during bereavement, assistance with funerals, visits to people in jail, and support following termination. They may also help companies communicate serious injuries or deaths, provide resources, facilitate employee-led spiritual enrichment activities, represent companies in appropriate ministry-related situations, and participate in new employee orientation. The role requires professional, compassionate service across diverse groups and an ability to work in interdisciplinary and interfaith settings. Chaplains are expected to demonstrate spiritual maturity and commitment to MCHAP’s Christian ministry values, maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively, document accurately, and use relevant computer applications. The position is remote in the field, with work environments determined by client worksites.
