About The Position

The chaplain will provide spiritual care to patients, families, and others in consultation with members of the health care team. Must be proficient in the use of computers and able to chart patient visits as required.

Requirements

  • M.Div. or D.Min. from an ATS seminary, 4 units of certified CPE preferred.
  • 1 year chaplaincy experience, ordained or commissioned with ecclesiastical endorsement from a recognized faith group, board certified or eligible within 2 years.
  • Ordained clergy with appropriate education, 1 unit of CPE preferred.
  • 3 years of specialized pastoral experience, and ecclesiastical endorsement from a recognized faith group will be considered for PRN positions on an as needed basis.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and able to chart patient visits as required.

Nice To Haves

  • 4 units of certified CPE preferred.
  • 1 unit of CPE preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the provision of appropriate levels of pastoral ministry to patients and families at UF Health Shands Hospital.
  • Functions as a member of the health care team by consulting with colleagues regarding issues that are pertinent to all disciplines in the provision of patient/family care, through charting and verbal communication.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age, spirituality, social location and culture of the patients served on an assigned unit.
  • Involves appropriate volunteer resources in the hospital, on behalf of patients and families, and oversees their work in consultation with Supervisor.
  • Contributes to and participates in the Perfomance Improvement/CQI responsibilities of the department, including work lead indicators. Documents patient assessments and care plans promptly in the medical record.
  • Shares responsibility for administrative or hospital wide initiatives with Supervisor and/or Department Director.
