The Chaplain Spiritual Care position at Carolinas Medical Center, within the Mission and Spiritual Care department, is a part-time role requiring 20 hours per week. This PRN (as needed) position is responsible for delivering holistic spiritual care to patients, families, team members, and physicians. The role involves providing spiritual care, consultation, and short-term counseling, facilitating sacramental ministries, and responding to codes, emergencies, and crises. The chaplain will assist families with needs related to patient illness and death, promote patient safety, and participate in departmental and site-wide coverage, including weekends and holidays. Responsibilities also include patient care planning, interdisciplinary team activities, identifying and resolving ethical dilemmas, and representing the values of religious communities. The position supports the clinical pastoral education program by mentoring students and collaborates with the mission and values of Advocate Health. Additionally, the chaplain will participate in educational initiatives and support groups, provide spiritual health education, crisis support, and debriefings, and maintain ecclesiastical endorsement.
