About The Position

The First Year Chaplain Resident functions as a team member of the Spiritual Care Department and establishes collaborative relationships with the interdisciplinary care team, other professionals and the community. The estimated start date is August 2026.

Requirements

  • All Candidates must visit www.trinityhealthofne.org/clinical-education-and-research/clinical-pastoral-education/programs fill out our application and referral form in addition to applying to the Trinity Health website
  • College degree BA/S, MDiv/equivalent, graduate studies in theology, religion, counseling, psychology or spirituality
  • Be ordained or commissioned to function in ministry by an appropriate religious authority as determined by ACPE
  • One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education from an accredited CPE center

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for responding to the spiritual needs of patients, families and staff of all faith traditions throughout the organization
  • Provides interfaith spiritual care through visitation, crisis intervention, prayers, sacraments as needed and appropriate, bereavement and end-of-life support, life-reviews, spiritual care consultation around existential questions, spiritual and religious rituals, worship services and staff support
  • Must understand we exist for the patients and their care is the number one priority
  • Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with admin, colleagues, patients and family members
  • Responsible for participating in the professional training program such as the action-reflection-new action process, written requirements and group participation to complete the educational requirements for chaplaincy certification
