The University of New Mexico School of Engineering seeks a visionary and collaborative leader to guide the Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBE) department to a higher level of excellence. The Chair will report to Donna Riley, the School's Dean. The University of New Mexico, founded in 1889, is New Mexico's flagship institution and an R1 institution offering over 215 degree and certificate programs. As a Hispanic Serving Institution, UNM prides itself on its diverse student body and provides opportunities for students of all socioeconomic backgrounds. The School of Engineering, established in 1906, is a leader in education and research, with programs in various engineering and computer science fields. It benefits from strong partnerships with national laboratories, offering research collaborations and internship opportunities. The CBE department, founded in 1911 and renamed in 2014, has state-of-the-art facilities and significant research expenditures. The CBE Chair will be an integral part of the School's leadership team, overseeing all academic and administrative activities of the department, including education, faculty, research, service, operations, and budget. The Chair will be responsible for developing the department's vision, fostering faculty and staff development, building a culture of equity and inclusive excellence, growing enrollment and research, and expanding partnerships.
