About The Position

The Chairperson of Education will lead the department with a demonstrated commitment to inclusive and diverse educational environments. This role requires an earned doctorate in a relevant field, an outstanding record in teaching, scholarship, and service meriting appointment as an associate or full professor. Experience with online education platforms (synchronous, hyflex, asynchronous) and graduate education, including doctoral education and dissertation chairing, is essential. The position also requires at least two years of academic leadership experience and the ability to contribute positively to the department's teaching needs within their area of expertise. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary.

Requirements

• An earned doctorate in a field represented by one of the department’s programs (or closely related) from an accredited institution.
• An outstanding record of teaching, scholarship, and service that would merit appointment and tenure as associate or full professor at Western Michigan University.
• Experience in online education, including synchronous, hyflex, and asynchronous platforms.
• Professional experience with graduate education including doctoral education.
• At least two years’ experience in a leadership role aligned with academic administration (e.g., program coordinator, associate department chair/head, department chair/head), or related college and university-level leadership experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
