About The Position

Under general supervision from the Dean of Health Professions I, the incumbent teaches EMS courses as scheduled, including initial education and continuing education courses. This includes day, evening, and weekend classes in both Temple and Hutto. Maintain regular office hours. Serve on committees when elected or appointed. Cultivate healthy teacher-student relationships. Make additions, deletions, assessments, and revisions to the curriculum. Suggest books and instructional materials for the Library and Media Center to purchase. Instruct Distance Ed and Dual Credit Courses as assigned. Oversee quality review and improvement for the programs. Ensure the effectiveness of the programs. Perform long-range planning for the program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any field.
  • Certification/license as a paramedic and Advanced Coordinator in the State of Texas.
  • At least three years of work experience in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver cognitive, psychomotor, and affective content.
  • Engage students in active learning.
  • Prepare and deliver lectures and laboratory lessons to undergraduate students on EMS related topics.
  • Precept students in field and clinical settings
  • Keep abreast of developments in the discipline by reading current literature, interaction and dialogue with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
  • Evaluate and grade students' class work, clinical work, laboratory work, assignments, and papers as appropriate to the discipline.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching, curriculum improvements, book recommendations, develop instructional materials, and research issues.
  • Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction.
  • Administer, compile, and grade assignments as assigned.
  • Post and maintain office hours as assigned.
  • Instruct non-credit or Dual-credit courses as assigned.
  • Develop assessment techniques for the specific discipline assigned.
  • Enforce safety and security measures in the classroom and campus setting.
  • Serve on assigned campus committees.
  • Cultivate healthy teacher-student relationships
  • Utilize advancements in technology to improve instructional methodology.
  • Incorporates best practices.
  • Seek feedback to improve the quality of teaching.
  • Participate in academic/professional organizations.
  • Demonstrate respect and professionalism with supervisors, colleagues, and students.
  • Fosters collegiality within the department/division.
  • Assist students with course and career counseling, as requested.
  • Administer, organize, and supervise the EMS Department.
  • Oversee quality review and improvement of the educational program.
  • Provide academic oversight, including curriculum planning and development for EMSP coursework.
  • Perform long-range planning and ongoing development of the program.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the programs and have systems in place to demonstrate the effectiveness.
  • Cooperatively work with the medical director.
  • Ensure the orientation/training and supervision of clinical and field internship preceptors.
  • Ensure the effectiveness and quality of fulfillment of responsibilities delegated to other individuals.
  • Perform job-related duties as assigned.
