About The Position

In this course, the principles of biochemistry are introduced with a chemical emphasis. Topics include: the chemistry of water and biologically relevant aqueous solutions, structure of biomolecules and biopolymers (amino acids, peptides and proteins, nucleotides, DNA and RNA, carbohydrates and polysaccharides, lipids and biomembranes), introduction to enzymes and coenzymes.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Cognate Discipline.
  • PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Cognate Discipline.
  • A Master’s Degree plus PhD in progress in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Cognate Discipline.
  • Laurier University Teaching Certificate (or equivalent recognized teaching credential).
  • Experience in the posted or substantially similar course.
  • A Master’s Degree plus M.Ed.
  • CV (required).
  • Candidate Application Form (CAF) (required).
  • Names and Contact Information for Referees (required for external applicants).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for both the lecture and laboratory portion of the course.
  • Deliver lectures on introductory biochemistry principles with a chemical emphasis.
  • Conduct laboratory sessions covering relevant biochemical topics.
  • Mark and grade student assignments and exams.
  • Coordinate large classes or multi-section courses as applicable.
