About The Position

Based at 12 Wing Shearwater NS, the CH148 Technician will initially augment the Contractor Field Service Representative team and will then establish the Contracted Maintenance 1200 hour inspection service lines. They will be responsible for performing CH148 aircraft system service support and maintenance, act as a systems expert, provide technical advice, and resolve complex CH148 system failures.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • Must be eligible for registration to the Controlled Goods Program.
  • Must be eligible to obtaining and maintaining the government of Canada’s “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret/ NATO Secret) security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct helicopter maintenance experience and be either an AME or CH148 authorized level A.
  • Possess a basic knowledge of the following disciplines and skills: Life Cycle Materiel Management, Reliability and Maintainability (Basic), and Quality Management.
  • Computer literate and working knowledge of MS office suite (mandatory).
  • Possess excellent communication skills.
  • Function effectively in oral and written English.
  • Bilingual an asset.
  • Team player, strong problem solving skills, resourceful, organized, being capable to prioritize in an short delay environment, customer oriented.
  • Familiarity with military operations an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and conduct/supervise Level 1 maintenance on the CH148 systems including but not limited to: Flight Control and Auto Flight Control systems, Aircraft Power Generation Systems, Instrumentation and Multipurpose Display Group, Aircraft Structures, Aircraft mechanical systems, Hydraulic systems, Fuel systems, Navigation/Radar Systems, and Aircraft Integrated Communication Systems.
  • Advise and instruct DND on aircraft system equipment, on test equipment, in developing and testing modifications and in performing inspections on aircraft systems and components.
  • Assist Technical Problem and Project Section (TPPS) and OEM engineers to investigate CH148 Technical Problems, analyze and determine cause of malfunctions and institute corrective measures to prevent recurrence of discrepancies.
  • Act as the resident expert on technical matters and maintenance procedures.
  • Perform maintenance activities beyond the capabilities of the DND technicians, as authorized and directed.
