About The Position

Tectonic is seeking full-time Certified Welding Inspectors to support structural steel construction and fabrication projects throughout the Hudson Valley, NY area! The essential functions of this position include traveling to project sites on a daily basis, monitoring fabrication and construction activities, and performing welding, structural steel, and related inspections to verify compliance with project plans, specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards. Duties may include reviewing welding procedures, inspecting welded connections, witnessing or coordinating nondestructive testing activities, documenting inspection findings, and utilizing inspection equipment as required by the project and client. Essential functions also include the preparation of Daily Field Reports, communication of deficiencies observed in the field to project managers, contractors, fabricators, and/or client representatives, interpretation of project-related drawings and documents, and all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma/equivalent
  • Valid AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • NDT Ultrasonic Testing Certification (UT)
  • Ability to complete OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety and Health Training within a reasonable period of time following commencement of employment
  • Ability to review and understand industry standards, plans, and specifications and recognize deficiencies
  • Ability to effectively communicate with supervisors, clients, contractors, and inspectors regarding specifications and qualification test results
  • Ability to record project data and complete required field inspection reports and documentation
  • Valid, acceptable driver’s license and transportation to travel to project sites

Responsibilities

  • Traveling to project sites on a daily basis
