About The Position

Bureau Veritas is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector for Detroit, MI. This role is responsible for quality assurance on behalf of Bureau Veritas's client, including on-site inspections during the construction phase. The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar position and be able to work effectively in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Reliable High Speed Internet connection
  • Valid Driver’s license, and a clean driving record
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screen
  • Fiscal ability to pay travel expenses for 1-2 weeks in advance (lodging, meals, flights, rental cars, parking, tolls, public transportation, etc.)
  • Ability to work remotely, on-site, and/or from established Bureau Veritas offices/work sites
  • Proficiency with Desktop Computers/Laptops/Tablets and Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, MS Teams, Word, Excel, and MS Calendar)
  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and other word processing/document control software
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the work space to access required areas.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other productivity equipment, and/or machinery (smartphone, tablet, calculator, copy machine, computer printer, etc.).
  • Frequently ascends/descends a ladder, and/or stairs to access required workspace.
  • Constantly positions self to access elevated or lowered work spaces.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; ability to exchange accurate information.
  • Ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer or at a distance).
  • Current/active American Welding Society - Certified Welding Inspector or Senior Certified Welding Inspector

Responsibilities

  • Communicating with Project Managers to determine specific requirements of work orders, including scope, deliverables, schedule, and budget.
  • Communicating with Project Managers, fabrication shops, contractors, BV employees, and other third parties to resolve issues.
  • Ensuring services are performed in accordance with project requirements and client contracts.
  • Generating, processing, and/or responding to timesheets, billing reports, expense reports, emails, instant messages, and inspection reports expeditiously and thoroughly, complying with all deadlines.
  • Submitting all reports typewritten using Microsoft Word/Adobe Acrobat and electronically transmitting them to the Project Manager.
  • Communicating information from fabrication facilities regarding upcoming assignments and potential work for Bureau Veritas.
  • Maintaining a positive relationship between Bureau Veritas, fabrication facilities, and clients.
  • Client-oriented approach with emphasis on understanding and fulfilling client needs.
  • Detail-oriented with a dedication to quality control and quality assurance processes.
  • Understanding and reading complex design and fabrication plans and specifications.
  • Communicating technical issues to Project Managers, clients, BV Employees, and fabrication facilities.
  • Multi-tasking and properly executing multiple simultaneous assignments without sacrificing efficiency or quality.
  • Working with clients, field staff, other Bureau Veritas offices, and the worldwide Bureau Veritas organization.
  • Identifying situations where additional PPE (outside of standard issue) is required.
  • Using a camera (smartphone) and inserting photos into documents for client reports.
