About The Position

Siemens Mobility, Rolling Stock Division is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector to join their team at their passenger railcar manufacturing facility in Lexington, NC. This role is crucial for ensuring train coaches are built to specifications by performing a variety of inspections in the Carshell welding area. The inspector will follow general guidelines to conduct routine visual CWI, dimensional, and mechanical inspections on welded and machined components and assemblies, and utilize non-destructive testing techniques to verify welding quality. Requirements

Obtain and hold AWS Certified Visual Weld Inspector Associate - or - VT Level II certification and certification in one or more non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques.
Ability to retrieve information from computer systems/databases and input data into electronic inspection systems.

Responsibilities

Performs a wide variety of inspections in the Carshell welding area to ensure train coaches are built to specifications.
Follows general inspection guidelines to conduct routine visual CWI, dimensional, and mechanical inspections on a wide variety of welded and machined components and assemblies.
Utilizes one or more non-destructive testing techniques to verify welding meets specifications.
Occasionally may be required to use experience and judgement to ascertain outcome/results meaning.
Able to provide routine disposition for common defects.
May have limited interaction with suppliers and quality management.
