About The Position

The Certified Welder must have certification to AWS D17.1_D17.1M _D1.1 or equivalent Fusion Welding for Aerospace application Specifications, and CWI certification. This role involves operating GTWA and GMAW Welding Machines, welding thin Aluminum (035-060) and Steel, understanding basic measurements using calipers, and having a basic understanding of welding symbols per AWS 2.4. Advanced Blueprint reading is also required. The individual must own all necessary tools and be able to set up their own jobs, support the welding team, train others, and approve jobs.

Requirements

  • Certification to AWS D17.1_D17.1M _D1.1 or equivalent Fusion Welding for Aerospace application Specifications.
  • CWI certification.
  • Ability to operate GTWA and GMAW Welding Machines.
  • Ability to weld thin Aluminum 035-060 and Steel.
  • Ability to understand basic measurements using calipers.
  • Basic understanding of welding symbols per AWS 2.4.
  • Advanced Blueprint reading.
  • Must own all tools to complete jobs, welding helmet, gloves, clamps, pliers etc.
  • Must be able to set-up own jobs, support welding team, train, and approve jobs.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Write simple correspondence.
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees.
  • Must know how to read and write English language.
  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Compute rate, ratio and percent, and draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Basic Computer Skills.
  • Must be able to list up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in a standing position up to 8 hours per day.

Nice To Haves

  • MIG welding: 10 years (Preferred)
  • Tig Welding: 10 years (Preferred)
