About The Position

AEIS is seeking AWS Certified Welding Inspectors (CWIs) to support its growing pipeline of infrastructure and structural projects. In this role, the CWI will perform inspections in a fabrication shop in Olean, NY and contribute to the ongoing development of welding quality assurance processes at AEIS. AEIS values craftsmanship, teamwork, and continuous improvement, and invests in the people who share those values. AEIS professionals grow into QA Leads, Technical Specialists, and Project Leaders. AEIS operates a full in-house NDT & Technical Training Program covering MT, UT, Hardness testing, and more.

Requirements

AWS CWI Certification (Active)
1–10 years of hands-on structural welding inspection experience
Strong communication skills in English (spoken & written)
Basic math and technical documentation skills
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and construction plans
Willingness to travel to fabrication shop in Olean, NY

Nice To Haves

MT certification (Level II)
Familiarity with ASME standards
Experience working on DOT or public infrastructure projects

Responsibilities

Perform visual and destructive weld inspections to ensure compliance with AWS D1.1/D1.5, ASME, and DOT standards.
Monitor welding operations and ensure procedures and personnel are qualified.
Identify and document weld defects and non-conformities.
Conduct MT and UT inspections where certified.
Maintain accurate inspection records and generate professional reports using proprietary software.
Verify and review WPSs, PQRs, and Welder Certifications.
Contribute to quality documentation systems.
Work closely with project managers, welding engineers, and NDT staff.
Participate in process optimization reviews and corrective action reports.
