About The Position

West Fraser is seeking a Certified Welder for their Grande Prairie OSB facility. This role is responsible for the safe fabrication and repairs of industrial equipment and infrastructure used in the manufacturing of Oriented Strand Board. The position reports to the Maintenance Team Leader.

Requirements

Proactive attitude and commitment towards safety
Valid Journeyperson Welding Certification
3+ Years of experience in an industrial / manufacturing environment
Familiar with interpreting engineered welding procedures
Be able to safely climb onto, into and over equipment, using ladders & work at heights
Ability to work independently without constant supervision
Organizational and planning skills to prioritize daily / weekly tasks
Ability to utilize computer programs as part of maintenance management systems

Responsibilities

Work with other Team Members to reinforce and support safety for everyone WF GPR OSB.
Perform a variety of tasks related to the safe and efficient application of technical skills and knowledge of a Certified Welder.
Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to repair / install equipment.
Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the assembly, installation, set-up and repair of equipment and machinery.
Weld-repair various types of OSB process equipment including conveyors, hydraulic lines, piping, tanks and more.
As needed - design, fabricate, install, & repair structural steel assemblies and components.
Safely respond to equipment breakdowns, troubleshoot the issue and develop efficient and effective repair plans.
Effective communication with others to ensure sharing of critical information, development of realistic timelines and providing updates during upset conditions.
