About The Position

As a Welder, you will be responsible for various welding activities on active railway property and construction sites. You will perform these duties using specific railway operating rules, instructions, and guidelines. This position contributes to the safety and efficiency of the work group while minimizing delays to railway operations while complying with Federal Railroad Association (FRA) rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Certified Welder: Able to present a certificate from an accredited Welding Institution.
  • Minimum five years of experience welding non-pressurized pipe (36"-60").
  • Experience using a Miller Trail Boss with a stick welding setup.
  • Knowledge of GCOR and other on-track safety procedures according to state, federal, company, and the client’s rules or policies.
  • Ability to work safely to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Ability to adhere to and promote safe work practices.
  • Ability to plan out work activities with Operations team.
  • Ability to ensure team has proper resources for the timely completion of work.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with all company and customer safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain eRail Safe certification.
  • Ability to complete written forms and reports, including FRA reports, as required.
  • Qualified to drive company vehicles if necessary.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, hearing protection, safety-toe boots or safety glasses when required.

  • Plan out work activities with Operations team to develop best means and methods, including developing safety action plans or other emergency plans as needed.
  • Ensure team has proper resources for the timely completion of work, including labor, tools, equipment and material.
  • Ensure compliance with all company and customer safety policies and procedures including maintaining eRail Safe certification.
  • Complete written forms and reports, including FRA reports, as required.
  • Potentially drive company vehicles if necessary and qualified.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, hearing protection, safety-toe boots or safety glasses when required.
