Requirements

  • Associates degree in Welding Technology or related technical field or two or more years of experience as a Certified Weld Inspector in a manufacturing environment with pressure vessel, piping, pump, fluid transfer, and heat transfer.
  • AWS Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) Certification.
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of nondestructive and dimensional inspection methods and equipment; ASME, PED, ATEX, NEC, NACE, ANSI, and TEMA code experience and familiarity with manufacturing processes such as heavy equipment mfg., welding technology, materials technology, manufacturing methods technology.
  • Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets and database software and mechanical workmanship standards.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, proportions and decimals.
  • Ability and understanding of various measuring devices in meeting drawing dimensions and specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, work orders, work instructions, diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Work requires continual attention to detail in follow through, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct various nondestructive inspections in the production process.
  • Provide oversight and in-process inspection of the overall welding inspection processes.
  • Perform positive material inspection analysis utilizing radiation-producing equipment.
  • Coordinate audits and monitor contracted nondestructive evaluation/test processes and personnel.
  • Execute radiographic film review to ASME Section III, IV, V, VIII, and IX requirements.
  • Performs daily visual/process audits in manufacturing areas to ensure jobs receive required tests/inspections promptly.
  • Perform necessary inspection procedures requiring special set-ups of new or unique equipment and interpretation of test data from various sources.
  • Maintain welder continuity log and ensure compliance with ASME and DOD standards.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on machines as scheduled and required for TPM.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to develop quality and efficiency improvements.
  • Conducts tests and inspections of products or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Create documentation of compliance with applicable ASME codes and regulations.
  • May be required to cross train and demonstrate competency on other essential job functions of the department as production needs require.
  • Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships; training and teaching others.
  • Maintenance of a clean and orderly work area free of excess materials.
  • Support of company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities.
