About The Position

The Pet Dentist, part of Animal Outpatient Specialty Network (AOSN), is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician. AOSN is a privately-owned, veterinary outpatient specialty company with a large group of veterinary specialists. They are a partner of choice for board-certified veterinary specialists and a provider of choice for pet parents across the United States and Canada, offering unsurpassed care to patients and peace of mind to pet owners. This position offers a $500 sign-on bonus, payable after successful completion of a 90-day probationary period.

Requirements

  • College or college-equivalent education as required in becoming a Certified Veterinary Technician
  • Previous experience or training / education in a veterinary facility required
  • Must be friendly, outgoing, “people oriented”
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Capable of being cross-trained for front office receptionist duties
  • Telephone and computer skills are necessary
  • Team player willing to learn new techniques, treatments, and accept change
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds
  • Must be willing to work long hours under pressure conditions
  • Ability to walk, bend, stand, squat, or reach constantly during a minimum 8-hour day
  • Dependable attendance is required

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate excellent relations with client / pets in the waiting area and exam rooms
  • Exceed the client’s expectations of service
  • Provide compassionate nursing care for all patients
  • Perform housekeeping / maintenance duties
  • Perform a cursory exam
  • Clearly communicate discussions with the owner to a doctor
  • Maintain record keeping
  • Fill prescriptions and dispense medications as prescribed by the doctor
  • Phlebotomy
  • IV Catheter placement
  • Prepare and restrain animals during procedures
  • Anesthetic induction
  • Anesthetic monitoring
  • Assist in surgery
  • Use a stethoscope
  • Advise pet owners on proper care
