About The Position

Central Hospital for Animals is an AAHA-accredited practice that has provided high-quality service to southern Illinois for over forty-five years. We specialize in dentistry, preventative care, reproductive medicine, and exotic pets. Our facility is stocked with the latest innovations in animal health, offering full laboratory and pharmacy service in-house. Our parent hospital is the leading referral site for orthopedic and joint repair, along with more involved surgeries. We perform everything with the goal of giving pets happy, healthy lives. Our hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, with availability for some Saturdays from 8am-12pm. Full-time and Part-time positions are available.

Requirements

  • A certified veterinary technician
  • A high work ethic and positive attitude team member
  • Ability to arrive on-time and ready to work
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to communicate precisely
  • Interpret medical records and record client history accurately
  • Knowledge in preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow
  • Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress and safe manner
  • Proficient in sample collection to include blood samples, urine, fecal, and skin
  • Ability to properly set-up and process laboratory samples and tests
  • Proficient in positioning and capturing radiographs
  • Proficient in anesthesia and surgical monitoring
  • A self-starter with the desire to continue to advance one’s knowledge and skillset
  • Ability to receive in a professional manner constructive feedback to maintain hospital efficiency

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years experience preferred but not required
  • Positioning for dental radiographs are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Animal restraint
  • Triage of incoming patients
  • Collection and analysis of lab samples
  • Diagnostic imaging
  • Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
  • Administration of medications
  • Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
  • Surgical preparation and assistance
  • Anesthetic management
