About The Position

The Pet Dentist, part of Animal Outpatient Specialty Network (AOSN), is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician. AOSN is a privately-owned, veterinary outpatient specialty company with the world’s largest unified group of veterinary specialists. A sign-on bonus is offered for this position, payable after successful completion of a 90-day probationary period. Requirements

• Previous experience or training / education in a veterinary facility required
• Must be friendly, outgoing, “people oriented”
• Excellent communication skills
• Must be capable of being cross-trained for front office receptionist duties, telephone and computer skills are necessary
• Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques, treatments, and accept change
• Phlebotomy
• IV Catheter placement
• Preparing and restraining animals during procedures
• Anesthetic induction
• Anesthetic monitoring
• Assisting in surgery
• Ability to use a stethoscope
• Advising pet owners on proper care
• College or college-equivalent education as required in becoming a Certified Veterinary Technician
• Dependable attendance is required
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds
• Must be willing to work long hours under pressure conditions
• The ability to walk, bend, stand, squat, or reach constantly during a minimum 8-hour day

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate excellent relations with client / pets in the waiting area and exam rooms
• Exceed the client’s expectations of service
• Provide compassionate nursing care for all patients
• Perform housekeeping / maintenance
• Perform cursory exam
• Clearly communicate your discussion with the owner to a doctor
• Record keeping
• Fill prescriptions and dispense medications as prescribed by the doctor
