About The Position

Bedford Veterinary Medical Center is a state-of-the-art, multi-doctor hospital offering personal, progressive, and comprehensive animal care to dogs, cats, and pocket pets in Southern New Hampshire. We practice high-quality medicine with utmost care and compassion. Our hospital provides services including annual wellness care, anesthesia and sedation, dentistry, internal medicine, laser therapy, in-house pharmacy, surgery, urgent/immediate care, and acupuncture. Our team is looking to add an experienced Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) committed to providing the best possible care for all pets. Applicants should be aware that shifts may be expected to be covered at both this location and our sister hospital at 288 Lowell Rd, Hudson, NH 03051. Our hours of operation are Monday – Friday: 7:00 am – 6:00 pm, Saturday: 7:00 am – 4:00 pm, and Sunday: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.

Requirements

  • Certified Veterinary Technician with an active license
  • 1+ year professional experience preferred but not required
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
  • Availability to work some weekends
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
  • Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
  • Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture
  • Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
  • Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards
  • Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises
  • May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases

Nice To Haves

  • Additional skills in dental radiography being a plus

Responsibilities

  • Animal restraint
  • Triage of incoming patients
  • Collection and analysis of lab samples
  • Diagnostic imaging
  • Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
  • Administration of medications
  • Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
  • Surgical preparation and assistance
  • Anesthetic management
  • Provide support for Urgent Care shifts when needed
