About The Position

Pieper Veterinary is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Veterinary Technician to join our Oncology Department at Pieper Memorial Veterinary Center. In this role, you will work alongside expert oncologists, supporting advanced treatments and therapies that give pets the best chance at recovery and an improved quality of life. You will play a vital role in providing compassionate care and guidance to both patients and their families, making a real impact every day. Our vision is simple: to make the community�and the animals and people in it�happier and healthier. This is a Full-Time Position: 4 days a week / 10-hour shifts. Holidays are required.

Requirements

  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) license required for sign-on bonus.
  • Strong knowledge with Anesthesia and monitoring.
  • Phlebotomy skills.
  • Knowledge of procedures for scheduling patients, receiving, treating, ordering medical supplies, and requesting laboratory tests.
  • Knowledge of the use, care, and storage of veterinary instruments, materials, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of sterilization techniques.
  • Knowledge of instruments, materials, and standardized procedures used in treatments.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client and personal services.
  • Knowledge of the English language, including meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Ability to work independently and accept direction.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's in veterinary technology.
  • Experience or knowledge in Oncology and chemotherapy.
  • Familiarity with CPR.
  • Familiarity with EzyVet.
  • Familiarity with SmartFlow.
  • Additional compensation for VTS.

Responsibilities

  • Support advanced treatments and therapies in the Oncology Department.
  • Provide compassionate care and guidance to both patients and their families.
  • Perform venipuncture.
  • Perform IV catheter placement.
  • Administer anesthesia.
  • Provide patient restraint.
  • Communicate with clients throughout patient treatment.
  • Assist with scheduling patients, receiving, treating, ordering medical supplies, and requesting laboratory tests.
  • Assist with the use, care, and storage of veterinary instruments, materials, and equipment.
  • Sterilize various instruments and materials.
  • Prepare and provide "tableside" assistance for treatments.
  • Provide client and personal services, assessing client needs and meeting quality standards.
