We are seeking an experienced and intellectually curious Certified Veterinary Technician to join our growing team. As a member of the ophthalmology team, you will be actively involved in both appointments and daily surgical procedures. Our Technicians run appointments and manage anesthesia for surgical patients from start to finish including making anesthesia plans, inducing and recovering, and anesthesia monitoring.

Requirements

  • Certification in the state of PA (CVT)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and an ability to clearly communicate with clients as well as team members
  • The ability to adapt while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Highly evolved organizational skills with an acute attention to detail
  • An openness to feedback, coaching, and continuous learning

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years’ experience as a Veterinary Technician preferred but not required
  • Candidates with a VTS

Responsibilities

  • Run appointments: History taking, ophthalmic diagnostics (STT, IOP, fluorescein stain application)
  • Client communication about histories and medications
  • Fill medications
  • Assisting with short procedures during appointments such as corneal debridement
  • Performing diagnostics when requested during appointments such as venipuncture for bloodwork and blood pressure measurement
  • Record keeping such as input of patient histories
  • Creating invoices for billing and estimate creation for procedures
  • Create protocols for anesthesia or sedation for ophthalmic procedures using inhalant and injectable medications as well as (occasionally) paralytics
  • Induce patients for anesthesia
  • Monitor anesthesia and sedation closely throughout procedures
  • Troubleshoot patient anesthetic concerns and provide real-time treatments
  • Recover patients from anesthesia
  • Utilize paralytics during anesthesia for microsurgical procedures
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records throughout surgical procedures
  • Assist with pre-surgical diagnostics and patient preparation
  • Intaking and discharging surgical patients
