About The Position

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School. The faculty will teach IQ curriculum relevant to their work history. Ivy Tech Community College is required to have a process in place to facilitate the FAA's review of faculty requirements. The FAA prohibits current FAA employees from teaching the CTO Partnership Program curriculum at (any) institutions. Selected candidates for employment will be subject to pre-employment background checks, including criminal history check, and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcome.

Requirements

• Minimum of three (3) years of fully credentialed experience as an FAA Certified Professional Controller (CPC), Military controller with FAA credentials, International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) air traffic controller, or Control Tower Operator (CTO) controller.
• One (1) year of on the job training instructor (OJTI) or similar experience.
• Faculty will teach IQ curriculum relevant to their work history.
• Selected candidates for employment will be subject to pre-employment background checks, including criminal history check, and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcome.

Nice To Haves

• For AT Basics curriculum, an experienced air traffic controller as listed above, or a faculty member with a minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience and a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
• Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.
• Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.
• Submit requested information within established timelines.
• Be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions or provide assistance.
• Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.
• Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s).
• Use technology such as Canvas, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate.
• In event of emergency absence, notify program/department chair.
• Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views.
• Promote diversity as an integral part of one's work.
