The Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) will be responsible for observing resident attendance, mood, behavior, and degree of involvement to evaluate facility programs and resident progress. This role involves assisting in community planning related to facility interests and resident/family needs, developing and implementing therapeutic recreational care plans and resident assessments, and interviewing residents or family members to gather recreational history. The CTRS will involve residents and families in planning therapeutic recreation programs, objectives, and goals, and assist in developing written plans of care for resident activity programs. They will also be responsible for developing and maintaining a quality assurance program for the Therapeutic Recreation Department, attending various facility meetings, and participating in government agency inspections. The role includes arranging transportation for outings, performing administrative tasks, creating a positive and calm environment, assisting in developing volunteer recreation assignments, and participating in orientation and in-service training. The CTRS will ensure recreation rooms and areas are prepared and cleaned, and assist with moving/arranging equipment. They will befriend residents to encourage self-esteem and oversee residents' engagement in therapeutic recreation programs to promote physical, social, spiritual, and mental well-being. This includes planning TR calendar events, implementing programs, and coordinating special events. The position requires the ability to make independent decisions, work with individuals with various disabilities, and be flexible with scheduling, including holidays, evenings, and weekends. The CTRS must possess leadership ability and adhere to ethical standards and facility policies regarding compliance and confidentiality.
