Nursing Process: Assists in providing peri-operative care for a patient population that includes Infants, Pediatrics, Adults, and Geriatrics. Preoperatively assists R.N. circulator in formulating plan of care. Professional accountability: Assists as needed in coordinating patient care peri-operatively and assumes responsibility and accountability for behavior in order to maintain standards for professional nursing practice. Post-operatively follows proper procedures for care of instruments, supplies and equipment. Under supervision, assists RN circulator with post-operative duties. Infection Prevention: Assists in the delivering of nursing care in a manner that minimizes the risk of transfer of infection and accidental contamination. 10% Safety: Assists in delivering care in a manner which protects the patient from injury. Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice. Strong Unit Based Council (UBC). Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent and employed to practice surgical technology in a healthcare facility prior to September 1, 2009 required OR Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program, Vocational Nurse program, or completion of a military training program in surgical technology required upon hire
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
AND one of the following: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program required upon hire OR Employed to practice surgical technology in a healthcare facility prior to September 1, 2009 required upon hire OR Graduate or completion of a military training program in surgical technology required within 2 years
Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) required upon hire
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required prior to providing independent patient care and must be maintained quarterly
Maintains a high level of confidentiality
Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills
Exhibits professional appearance and acceptable grooming standards
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Nice To Haves

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program, Vocational Nurse program, or completion of a military training program in surgical technology preferred
One (1) year of current operating room experience preferred
Ortho experience preferred
