About The Position
Franciscan Health is a large Catholic health care system serving patients and communities across Indiana. The Certified Surgical Technologist will work in the Carmel Orthopedic Operating Room at Franciscan Health Indianapolis Orthopedic Hospital. The role involves preparing instruments, sterile supplies, and patients for surgery and assisting the surgical team during procedures. Full-time and PRN opportunities are available; the posting specifies a day shift. Travel is never or rarely required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
- One year of surgery experience.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
Responsibilities
- Arrange instrument trays.
- Prepare sterile drapes and solutions.
- Assist with patient preparation as needed.
- Pass instruments to surgeons and surgical assistants.
- May assist with sponge, needle, and other supply counts to track materials used in surgery.
- May operate suction, diagnostic, and sterilizing equipment.
- Package specimens for laboratory analysis.
