About The Position
The Orthopaedic Surgery Center (OSC) is a collaborative effort between the physicians of Concord Orthopaedics and Concord Hospital. It is a day surgery center designed for patients who can go home the same day as their surgery. Procedures offered are those that can be performed under local, regional or general anesthesia, with a short post-operative observation period. The OSC strives to create a comfortable, safe, and convenient atmosphere for patients. This role provides surgical care to patients within the operating room under the supervision of perioperative nurses and/or surgeons, utilizing AORN standards, recommended practices, and guidelines to ensure quality, safety, and appropriateness of patient care.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited surgical technologist program.
- Basic Life Support certification required within 3 months of hire.
- Medical Technician - NH Board of Registration of Medical Technicians certification.
- A minimum of 1 year experience as a surgical technologist.
Responsibilities
- Plans for surgical procedures by assembling instrumentation, equipment, and necessary supplies.
- Maintains the integrity of the sterile field by utilizing knowledge of aseptic technique.
- Assists surgeon and physician assist (P.A.) with activities at the sterile field.
- Participates and engages in center activities.
- Functions as a leader for surgical team.
- Performs sterilization of equipment.
- Assists with maintaining a clean and safe surgical environment.
- Pro actively plans and participates in requirements for surgical case.
- Helps to contain supply costs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
