About The Position

Provides assistance during surgical procedures pertaining to surgical tool management, sterile field management, and preparation of operating room. This role involves direct patient care and support as part of the health care team, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes. The position serves a population from 4 months through geriatric, requires meeting scheduling requirements and taking call, and performing acts within the scope of practice. It also requires abiding by privacy and security regulations regarding Protected Health Information (PHI) and maintaining effective communication and professional working relationships.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited surgical technology program.
  • Current certification for surgical technologist in the State of Kansas
  • Current BLS/CPR card from approved provider within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation, whichever comes first.
  • Ability to apply the basic principles of patient care
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
  • Keyboarding skills and basic computer skills
  • Multi-tasking and prioritization skills

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of Surgical operating room experience
  • AS in Surgical Technology

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care and support as part of the health care team.
  • Observe the patient’s physical, mental, and emotional conditions and reports any changes as appropriate.
  • Serves a population 4 months through geriatric.
  • Meet scheduling requirements and take call.
  • Perform acts that are within the scope of practice as defined by the applicable certification board.
  • Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values.
  • Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
