About The Position
The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is an allied health professional who works under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures. This role ensures that the operating room environment is safe, equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. The CST possesses expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique, combining knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician’s performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited surgical technology course required.
- NBSTSA Certification required.
- BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved required.
- Demonstrates expertise in the delivery of care and possesses the skills necessary to perform complex tasks.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
- Possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed in order to provide care for the age group of patients served.
