About The Position

The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) in the Operating Room at Texas Health Fort Worth is a full-time night shift position. This role is crucial in assisting with patient care peri-operatively and assumes responsibility and accountability for behavior to maintain standards for professional nursing practice. The CST will assist in providing peri-operative care for a diverse patient population including infants, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics. Preoperatively, they will assist the RN circulator in formulating a plan of care, and post-operatively, they will follow proper procedures for the care of instruments, supplies, and equipment. Under supervision, the CST will also assist the RN circulator with post-operative duties. This position offers a sign-on bonus and is located in a fast-paced, high-volume department averaging 75 surgeries per day, with opportunities to gain experience in high-acuity procedures such as robotics, complex spine and ortho trauma, and intricate plastic surgery cases.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009
Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program, Vocational Nurse Program or graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology Upon hire
CST - Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) and graduate of an accredited surgical tech program Upon Hire
CST - Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) and was employed to practice surgical technology in a healthcare facility before September 1,2009
CST - Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) and graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology within 2 years of hire
LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse Upon Hire
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly

Assists in providing Peri-operative care for a patient population that includes Infants, Pediatrics, Adults, and Geriatrics.
Preoperatively assists R.N. circulator in formulating plan of care.
Post-operatively follows proper procedures for care of instruments, supplies and equipment.
Under supervision, assists RN circulator with post-operative duties.
